Larry Talbot (aka the Wolf Man played by Lon Chaney Jr.) visits his father (Sir John Talbot played by Claude Rains) in Wales. Larry saves the woman he loves (Gwen Conliffe played by Evelyn Ankers) from a werewolf (Bela played by Bela Lugosi) attack and is bitten in the scuffle. He then goes on a rampage in the Wales countryside in The Wolf Man movie.
Although the famous quote in the movie The Wolf Man is reported to be an authentic Gypsy saying; it was in fact a creation of writer Curt Siodmak. "Even a man who is pure at heart, and says his prayers by night, may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms and the autumn moon is bright."
Oddly no full moon or wolf bane is seen in the movie The Wolf Man. Even though the combination of the two is what triggers the Wolf Man's (Lon Chaney Jr.) transformation.
